BCFA 75th Anniversary

Real Farm. Real Food. Real Experience. 2015

Real Farm. Real Food. Real Experience.

On July 3, 2015 on a beautiful Friday night in the Municipality of Kincardine the Bruce County Federation of Agriculture hosted an epic event pairing urban and rural in a country setting facing Lake Huron.  250 guests and 50 volunteers enjoyed a local chef prepared meal of locally sourced products.

The fantastic weather complimented the evening as farmers, cottagers and politicians enjoyed local beer and wines with their meal sourced mainly from beautiful Bruce County.  The meal was completed with a decadent dessert prepared and presented by the culinary students from Georgian College in Owen Sound. To complete the evening, entertainment for the duration was supplied by Mark Wallms as he played piano and sang.

Displays of farm equipment were well received as patrons learned about road safety and sharing the roads with farmers during the busy summer season. The educational area featured John Deere equipment supplied by a local cash cropper, Robert’s Farm Equipment supplied a combine, Grain Farmers of Ontario brought their education wagon, Sprucedale Agromart brought their soil testing equipment and Gaylea Foods provided their antique truck.

This event was a huge undertaking for the committee appointed by the board and there were many hours spent planning.  We were very fortunate to have partnerships with local businesses to facilitate this undertaking; Bruce Power, Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), Foodland Ontario, Bruce Agri Dehy, Croplife Canada, OFA Proud to Lead, Scotiabank, and Gaylea Foods.  Generous donations in kind were also received from many local small businesses to support this initiative.
